Terms & Conditions
Last updated: July 5, 2026
Welcome to SCIO Art. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the scio-art.com website, our iris photography services, and your purchase of our products. By booking a session, placing an order, or using our website, you agree to these Terms.
1. Our Services
SCIO Art provides iris photography sessions at our galleries and at client events, and sells personalized artwork produced from iris photographs — including photographic, metal, acrylic and epic prints, acrylic stands and blocks, and jewelry. Appointments are booked through Square Appointments; gift cards are sold through Square. Your use of Square's services is also subject to Square's own terms.
2. Pricing and Payment
Prices shown on our website (including "pricing starts from" amounts) are starting prices for the smallest size or simplest option of each product and are subject to change without notice. The final price depends on the product, size, and options you select, and will be confirmed before you pay. Payment is processed at the time of purchase via Square or in person at our galleries.
3. Product Orders and Custom Items
Every SCIO Art product is personalized: it is created from your own iris photograph. Because of this, personalized items are non-refundable and non-exchangeable unless they arrive damaged or defective. If your product arrives damaged or with a production defect, contact us at info@scio-art.com within 14 days of receipt with photos of the issue, and we will repair, reprint, or replace it at no charge. Production and delivery times are estimates and may vary by product and season.
4. Image Rights and Consent
By sitting for an iris photography session, you consent to SCIO Art capturing photographs of your iris and using them to produce the artwork and products you order. You retain the right to your likeness: SCIO Art will not use your iris images or finished artwork for marketing, display, or any other purpose without your separate, explicit consent. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent before any photograph is taken. See our Privacy Policy for how iris images are stored and retained.
5. Appointments and Cancellations
Sessions are booked through Square Appointments. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please do so as early as possible through your booking confirmation or by contacting us. Late arrivals may result in a shortened session or rescheduling. We reserve the right to reschedule sessions due to equipment issues or circumstances beyond our control; in that case you may choose a new time or a full refund of any prepaid session fee.
6. Gift Cards
E-gift cards are sold through Square and are redeemable for SCIO Art products and sessions. Gift cards are not redeemable for cash except where required by law, and lost or stolen gift card codes cannot be replaced. Any expiration or additional terms are stated at the time of purchase.
7. Mobile Gallery and Event Bookings
Our mobile iris photography experience is available for festivals, special events, corporate events, school trips, and birthday parties. Event bookings are confirmed by written agreement (email is sufficient) covering date, location, duration, and pricing. A deposit may be required to secure a date; deposit and cancellation terms will be stated in the booking confirmation. For events involving minors, the event organizer is responsible for ensuring parental or guardian consent for each participating minor.
8. Website Use
You may use our website for lawful purposes only. All content on the website — text, images, artwork, and branding — is the property of SCIO Art or its licensors and may not be reproduced without permission. We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate but do not guarantee that the website is error-free or uninterrupted.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SCIO Art's total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of our services is limited to the amount you paid for the product or service giving rise to the claim. SCIO Art is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms will be resolved in the courts located in the District of Columbia.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on this page at the time of your purchase or booking applies to that transaction.
